ETSY FIND

Happy Friday Bloggers!

Every now and then when I'm looking for new accessories, I like to find unique pieces instead of going to big brand company stores.  One place I like to browse is online shop, Etsy.

I recently came across ceramic potter, Lee Wolfe from One Clay Bead.  She makes beautiful and unique shaped pottery.  I love the glazed look of her products.  I was able to purchase one of her pretty pottery.  I knew once I saw it online, I had to have it!  It goes perfectly in our home.  I used it as a vase to hold some lovely flowers and have it displayed in our family room.  I love it!  I wish I had a talent like this . . . need to try a pottery class.

For more individual and unique designs, be sure to stop by Etsy.

Have a great weekend!  I have a birthday coming up so I'll be celebrating over the weekend.

I love the shape of this piece

WOMEN'S FASHION INSPIRED BY MENSWEAR

image.  Classic and beautiful in menswear look

It was last year that I really started noticing a trend in women's fashion inspired by menswear.  From pinstripe pants, button down vests, fedora hats, boyfriend jeans, varsity jackets and oxford shoes.  In fabrics such as herringbone, houndstooth, plaid and tweed.  This trend is carrying over into this year as well.

Some favorite pieces I own are boyfriend jeans and a pair of Prada patent leather oxfords.  So comfy and fashionable.

I love some of these looks paired with feminine articles of clothing.

I'm a little obsessed with home accessories in brass/gold!  I love the warm tone is brings when paired with other furnishings in the home.  I'm looking for the right pieces to add and/or replace some of the silver accessories I currently have.  I put together a few that caught my eye!

COLOR ME WITH SHADES

COLOR ME WITH SHADES

If you're like me, I love an assortment of different style sunglasses.  From gold or silver metal aviators to classic black or brown frames, I love them all!  Have you seen the trend designers are creating with different colored lenses?

Take Oliva Palmero . . . She screams fashion and has the most amazing style sense.  A paper bag would look great on her!  She is always seen with a pair of sunglasses.  One of her favorite colored lens sunglasses is from Westward Leaning.  These sunglasses are fun and fashionable and can be worn with any outfit (dressy or casual).  Ray Ban is another company that recently launched their Flash Lens Sunglasses.  This line sells colored lenses; from blue to pinky brown, yellow or green.  I even spotted a few from Forever 21 for those that who are on a budget or don't want to spend a ton of money on sunglasses.

I would love to try a few of these on to see if they work for me.  What are some of your favorites?

SPRING DREAMIN

Spring Dreaming

1// 2// 3// 4// 5// 6

I have never felt so desperate for Spring to arrive.  I keep thinking how long it's going to take for all this snow to melt away.  While I wait . . . I dream.

I'm inspired by all the lovely pastels and am definitely adding a few pieces to my home.  I don't have any bold colors in our home so, bringing in some other soft colors will compliment the look. Thinking about the something for the family room, definitely an Easter tablescape and thoughts of adding blush to my home office (so girly but I'm loving it!)

UPDATE TO DINING ROOM

Hello bloggers!  So, if you follow my blog, you knew I was on the hunt for a mirror in our dining room space.

This was the final, big piece to our dining room project.  I searched around and came across the Crystalle Mirror from Ballard Designs.  I was able to score a 20% discount and free shipping!  I decided to take the plunge and purchase it.

Upon its arrival and my excitement to open the large box, I was sadly disappointed when I saw the mirror was damaged (in three places).  Do you get like me, so sad to see an item arrived damaged, after waiting for it to be delivered?  Of course, hubby wasn't too disappointed because that meant he didn't have the job of hanging it up (lol).

I contacted Ballard Designs via email.  They responded right away and advised me they would ship out a new mirror and credit me for the damaged mirror.  They apologized for the inconvenience.  I asked if a carrier could come pick up the new mirror because I didn't want the hassle of sending it back myself.  They said because it was damaged, there was no need to send it back and that I could keep it.  Wow! I could keep it.  I suppose this mirror could some how be fixed (not sure how) but it's a great mirror with some mirror chips missing a crack in one section.  I just can't throw it away!
The new mirror arrived in a few days and was in perfect condition (thank goodness).  My hubby hung it up and I love it!  It's the perfect size and I love the shape.  I didn't want a square or oval mirror, the octagon shape is perfect!  The center glass of the mirror is beveled and it has a slight antique finish to it.

If you haven't shopped from Ballard Designs before, I can attest to their products and customer service.  Ballard Designs is a great company and have been happy with my previous purchases.  They stand by their products and want to make their customers happy.  So, thank you Ballard!

WEEKEND PROJECTS

Happy Tuesday!  I hope anyone that was off from work yesterday, enjoyed the three day weekend!  I spent the time painting.  First room was my soon to be home office and then I carried it into the second floor hallway.

I must admit, painting is no easy task.  I am definitely paying for it; being achy and sore all over.  I have an appreciation for those that are professional painters.  It takes a lot of prep work (taping, cutting in), patience and practice.  My legs got a work out, going up and down the ladder when I was cutting in the top edge of the walls and rolling.

All the paint colors in our home are by Benjamin Moore.  I'm just a big fan of the company and love the quality of their paints.  Since I'm trying to get a home office designed for the unused room, I knew I need to paint the room.  The existing colors in that space are not going to work for the design I have planned.   I knew I wanted to keep the space light and wanted a shade of gray.  I decided to go with Revere Pewter.  Depending on the lighting and the time of day, it's gray with some beige (greige).  It also works nicely with the wallpaper I have in mind (wallpapering one wall).

After painting the room, I loved it so much, I decided to paint the second floor with the same color.  My soon to be home office, is a half wall room (no door) and open.  The paint color I replaced was Hush AF-95.

It's a subtle change but makes a huge impact.  It's lighter and a cleaner look. I love the color!  I kept the color Sparrow at the end of the hall; used as an accent color.  It blends nicely with Revere Pewter.

Here are some pictures:

You can see the subtle color change.  Left is the color Revere Pewter and right is Hush.
Thinking of adding a molding piece of some sort to separate the room from the hallway.

SPRING DREAMWEAR . . . RED VALENTINO

I don't know about you, but where we live on the east coast, Spring can't come quick enough.  I think we've all had our share of old man winter and the mounds of snow and cold prove just that (with more to come).

Okay, I've vented.  Moving on . . .

With all the emails flooding my inbox with Spring new arrivals, I'm excited to see what's hitting the stores.  And, while I'm dreaming about Spring, I can also dream about wanting some of these looks that are out of my price range (lol).

Check out my current craves from RED Valentino:

And, of course, pairing these outfits with a pair of these lovely sling backs wouldn't hurt either.
